HOW CAN WE BE SO AFFORDABLE?

If you've already been quoted a price for your case by another law firm, then you may be asking yourself why our prices are significantly lower. Keep in mind that a higher price doesn't necessarily mean higher quality. It's true for bottled water, and it's true for attorneys. The difference is that we don't have a fancy marble floored office, and we don’t advertise on radio, TV, or billboards. Instead, most of our clients come to us as referrals from previous clients or are people who read our 5-star reviews. We pass the resulting savings onto our clients in the form of lower prices. It's that simple.

DIVORCE & CHILD CUSTODY

$2000 Flat Fee (Initial Phase)

Achieving your goals in a Utah divorce, child custody, or modification case should not require an unlimited legal budget. Rather than relying on large retainers and open-ended hourly billing from the beginning, we offer a phased flat-fee approach for many contested family law matters.

Most cases begin with an Initial Phase flat fee of $2,000 that covers preparing and filing pleadings, satisfying disclosure requirements, and evaluating the issues involved in your case. Once that phase is complete, we will review the status of your matter with you and provide a fee quote for any additional representation that may be necessary based on the actual complexity of your case and the work reasonably anticipated moving forward.

This approach provides greater transparency, predictable costs, and flexibility by allowing you to pay only for the services your case actually requires. Our goal is to make experienced Utah family law representation more accessible while providing the personal attention and guidance every client deserves.

ENFORCE COURT ORDER

$3000 Flat Fee*

Has the other party in your case violated the court's order? Fair Price Lawyers will file a motion to enforce a Utah court order on your behalf and argue the motion at a hearing. Such a motion asks the court to hold the other party in contempt and to sanction them for violating the order. Frequently, courts will also order the offending party to reimburse you for your attorney's fees. Our retainer fee for enforcement actions is typically $3,000.

*Applies in most cases. Additional fees may apply in unusually complex matters or if substantial litigation becomes necessary.

PROTECTIVE ORDERS

$2000 Flat Fee

Fair Price Lawyers will help you get a protective order or defend you against a protective order for a $2,000 flat fee.

ADJUST CHILD SUPPORT

$2000 Flat Fee*

Fair Price Lawyers will file and prosecute a petition to modify child support—or defend you against one—for a flat fee of $2,000.*

*Applies in most cases. Additional fees may apply in unusually complex matters or if substantial litigation becomes necessary.

NAME CHANGE

$500 Flat Fee

Fair Price Lawyers will complete your name change for a flat $500 attorney fee plus the $333 district court filing. The total cost you pay is $833.

"UNCONTESTED" DEFINED

A matter is contested when the parties cannot agree regarding important matters that need to be decided, such as child custody, parent time, asset/debt division, child support, alimony. When you hire Fair Price Lawyers to represent you regarding a contested divorce, child custody/Support matter or a modification, we will handle all aspects of your case. We handle everything from beginning to end. As we perform work on your case, we will withdraw funds from your retainer deposit. You will receive periodic invoices showing what work has been done on your case and how much remains of your retainer deposit. Any funds remaining after work is completed on your case will be refunded to you. Not often, but sometimes, cases can be drawn out by either party and retainer funds are exhausted. If that happens, we will request an additional deposit of retainer funds.

A matter is considered uncontested when the parties have agreed on all the important matters that need to be decided. If you hire Fair Price Lawyers to represent you regarding uncontested matters, our attorneys will prepare and file all the necessary paperwork for your case and handle all contact with the court and the other party. However, we will not negotiate with the other party about the terms of the settlement agreement. We must charge additional fees for doing so.
